The cost of a kitchen countertop will vary by product, brand and color. Within each product type their are differnt brands. For instance:

Solid Surface - Dupont Corian and LG HiMacs

Quartz - Dupont Zodiaq, Caesarstone, Silestcone

With in each of these brands you will find their color levels. Traditionally each color is put in a alphabet level category (A, B, C, D, etc). For instance, the color Amazon Green by Caesarstone is a level B color and color Smokey Topaz by Dupont Zodiaq is a level C color. The actual price itself will not normally be the same between brand color levels. For instance a level B in Silestone will not be the same price as a level B in Dupont Zodiaq, Normally, the A level colors will be less expensive than the higher level colors. When new colors come out they will be put in either one of these categories, although traditionally new colors are priced higher in the beginning.
