Engineered Stone is the technical name for quartz countertops. It means that the countertop itself is not cut up from the ground like granite but instead the loose pieces of quartz are mixed together with resin and pigments to make your countertop. Quartz countertops are man made through an engineering process. Now 93% or more of your countertop is quartz which comes from the ground but it is held together by binders. This makes it a more durable product than granite but also means that it can not be called a natural stone.
