In an article posted on Bob Vila's website, bobvila.com, they posted an article on the benefits of Quartz Countertops (Click Here to view article). The head paragraph of the article calls quartz the "new worry-free alternative to high-maintenance granite. They are stronger than granite, require no resealing, are highly resistant to scratches and stains, and come in a huge variety of colors". All of these items that they highlighted in this one sentence are some of the major advantages of quartz. Bob, or one of his writers, is right on with their statement. The other great thing is that these benefits are shared by all the quartz products; Dupont Zodiaq(r), Caesarstone(r) and LG Viatera(r).

Some of the other facts pointed out by Bob:

- Quartz is second only to water as the most common mineral based form on earth

- Quarta ranks 7.0 on Moh's Hardness Scale (only diamonds rank at the level 10)

- Quartz is made up of 93-95% quartz and the rest is pigments and resins

- All quartz brands are made with the same patented process by a company called Breton

- Quartz countertops are warrantied because they will not fissure or crack like granite can

All and all I believe the article did a great job of highlighting the benefits of quartz countertops.
